We all are washing our hands now regularly. Bacteria abound and to prevent sickness hand washing is a regular occurance . But do you really need to run hot water over your hands? Not so says a 2005 study about handwashing shows that warm and even hot water does nothing for the bacteria. It can even make the soap you use a bit harsher on the hands.
Washing in a comfortable temperature for at least 25 seconds. Is more than enough. I usually sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to time myself.
This can be a considerable savings as there is less hot water used and even less water as you’re not stuck waiting for the water to heat up.
